Detail
Color Black. Liquid-applied, fiber-reinforced polyurethane-based waterproofing membrane for detailing and sealing. When cured, it results in a strong and elastic finish. The curing time depends on the layer thickness and temperature.
Application
Mix the Detail compound in the container slowly and thoroughly with e.g. a wooden stick. Do not use power tools. The reinforcing fiber in the compound should be mixed evenly throughout.
Preparation
Thorough surface preparation is essential for achieving a durable end result. The surface must be clean and dry. New concrete surfaces should be allowed to dry for at least 28 days before using Katepal Detail. Remove old coatings, dirt, grease, oils, organic materials, and dust from the surfaces to be sealed. Do not wash the surface with water!
Priming
Clean smooth dirty and greasy surfaces. Smooth surfaces should be roughened with sandpaper or a wire brush, for example. Stainless steel and porous concrete surfaces or similar surfaces (cement mortar, natural stone) must be primed with an epoxy-polyurethane-based primer, such as SIKA Primer 3N.
Application
Apply Katepal Detail to the primed surface using a 10 cm wide brush until the entire area is covered, following the instructions. Apply a second coat 18-36 hours later, depending on the thickness of the first coat and installation conditions. Note! Do not apply Katepal Detail when the temperature is below +5°C, on frozen/frosty surfaces, during rain or foggy weather, on wet primed surfaces, on surfaces with residual moisture, or where moisture can migrate beneath the Katepal Detail sealing layer. Low temperatures slow down drying, while high temperatures speed it up; consider this when planning the work stages.
Finishing
To achieve desired color for the finished surface, you can apply mineral granules of your desired color to the wet Katepal Detail surface. The mineral granules also protect the Katepal Detail membrane from UV radiation and mechanical strain/load. Warning! Surfaces treated with Katepal Detail membrane are slippery when wet. To prevent slipping, finish the surface according to the finishing instructions with your chosen mineral granules.
Storage and Packaging
Katepal Detail is supplied in 6 kg metal containers. Katepal Details shelf life is 9 months from the manufacturing date. Protect the packaging from direct sunlight and moisture. Storage temperature: +5–30°C. Do not repackage Detail into a different container than the original one. The manufacturer's name, product purpose, batch number, and safety data sheet must always be visible on the packaging.
